description: This house is situated in a community layed out in a series of streets that open up to canals, at the back of the lots. The backyard is facing a canal which leads into the Intercoastal - a major maritime navigation artery in South Florida. The intention of the design is simple: to formalize the edges of the existing pool deck so as to indicate clearer axis of circulation, and emphasize the dock as a point of arrival. The proposal also aims to contrats the formality of the pool deck with softer edges along the boundaries of the lot. New native tropical ground cover plants are used in these islands to add an understory to the existing landscape design, and a strip of bamboo trees line the fence to create a vegetal screen.
